Enjoy these very easy activities with your kids. Drawing and painting is a great way for kids to focus on the instant, to build self-confidence and to relax. Meanwhile, you are spending quality time with your little ones.
Don’t be afraid to get dirty … remember that all this is washable. Old clothes, a big rag on the floor, an apron and everything should be fine!
Straw painting
Ideal to paint trees, a face with hair, flowers …
With a brush, make some watercolor drops on the paper.
Then with a straw, blow the excess water.
Use the straw to make colored circles.
Finish with the brush to create a nice background.
Finger paint
Mix some colored finger paint on the paper.
With one finger, draw a path in the paint to create this effect.
Hand painting
Mix finger paint on a palette to create a nice color pattern
Drip your hands in it and apply on paper.
Mixing watercolors
This is the simplest activity. Few brushes and some watercolor.
Observe how colors mix and blend, add water to spread them around and see how they dry.
You can always add salt and watch the miracles. Kids love it. But as well i really encourage you to experiment with the kitchen plastic film over the watercolors. That makes great shapes like that when letting it dry with it on.
Stencil painting
Cut an empty toilet paper roll and shape it as an oval.
Use it as a stencil to paint colorful tree leaves.
Lastly paint a brown trunk to finish your tree.
Mixed materials and textures
Start off with watercolor paint or finger paints to get a colorful background.
Drop various natural objects on the paint: flowers, leaves, stems, rice.
Once dry, use some hairspray to fix everything on the paper. Another option is to frame this painting so that it can hold vertical.
Here we are, hope you enjoyed these simple creative activities. I would be delighted to see some of your creations, so feel free to comment with your handcrafts!
